5th Grade NewsWe are so proud of the excellent effort that our fifth graders put forth this year! Science Fair projects were due April 26th. Students worked diligently on them in class. We only have a few more weeks of school and expect the best behavior from all of our students. We would love to see all fifth graders take part in the “Fifth Grade Celebration.” There are many other fun activities planned for the months of May and June. The trip to Sea World took place on May 7th. It was a fun day for all students involved. Thanks to all of those who came out and supported our Fifth Grade Drama Club as they performed an adaptation of The Wizard of Oz. Thanks to all for a very successful year!
4th Grade NewsThank you to all the students for demonstrating such good sportsmanship during Field Day. Congratulations to Miss Fredrick’s class who won 1st place! Thank you to all the students for participating in the Science Fair and to the supportive parents who also helped to make it so successful. Be sure to congratulate your child for a job well done. As we enter the homestretch of the school year, please remind your child to keep up with his/her class work and homework assignments. Also, it’s a good idea to check with your child to make sure he/she has all necessary school supplies to finish the year. Continue to sign your child’s agenda on a nightly basis, as well as empty his/her backpack of old papers. We must work together to keep our students organized! Practice makes PERFECT! Please continue to practice basic multiplication/division facts nightly and cursive handwriting. Don’t forget that students should be reading for 20 minutes each night. “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body." Joseph Addison
3rd Grade NewsWe hope everyone had a relaxing winter break. With the FCAT quickly approaching, we ask that you review at home the FCAT preparation materials that are come home with your child. Reviewing daily your child's multiplication facts is extremely beneficial to your child's mathematical progress. Please remind your child to log any chapter books they have read on their Reading Across Broward sheet located in the front of their agenda. Continue to ask your child if any of their school supplies need to be replenished. Lastly, continue reading with your child on a daily basis.
2nd Grade NewsWe can't believe it is almost the end of the year. We practiced our play, “Character Matters,” and enjoyed performing for our families and friends. We learned (and singing) about positive character traits we should display on a daily basis. Please continue to encourage your child to read. Reading improves concentration, focus, memory, creativity, and builds self-esteem. Just remember, books are like treasure chests filled with so many surprises. Thank you for a wonderful school year. We have enjoyed working together with you and your child.
1st Grade NewsWe are very proud of all our first grade students. Please encourage your child to read daily and discuss the events or details in the text. In Math, we are working on place value (tens and ones) and comparing numbers (greater than, less than, and equal). Our first graders recently had a wonderful time on our field trip. We saw a terrific performance called "Charlotte's Web."
Kindergarten NewsThe end of the year is approaching fast and our Kindergarten students are looking forward to becoming first graders. We have many activities going on the end of the year, so please make sure you check your child's folders daily for important information. If you have not had an end of the year conference with your child's teacher, please make sure to set one up as soon as possible. Be on the lookout for information regarding Open Music Class and Parents' Day. We went to Butterfly World on May 18th. Thanks to all our parent volunteers. We had a great time. Also, Kindergarten Round Up was on May 4th. Many thanks for all your support!!!
